Tim's Story
I am now 27 years old.The last pediatrist I saw a few yrs. back told me that the surgery preformed on myself as a baby was done quite well, "one of the best I've seen."
Growing up I had very little problems doing everything normal children do.Allthough I was never very enthusiatic about sports, I think at one time or another I was on many peewee or little leauge teams.I never really thought much about my feet till may late teens, when I began working.I found that long hours on my feet, such as 12hr. work day took a toll on my feet. This led me to lean tword only jobs in which I spent little time on my feet, delivering pizzas, car paint,etc...Till I found a job delivering Grandfather Clocks when I was 19.I continued delivering and doing mostly road work (in home sevice) on clocks until I was 24 when I suffered from a unknown case of possible nerve damage in my left leg.For months I could hardly walk.No one and I saw a gammet of doctors could tell me why this happened.I will say that over the 5yr. period I had gained over 60 pounds due to the fact after a long day of work the pain in my ankles prevented me from doing much other than putting my feet up & relaxing. I returned to work part time for a year or so as the nerve damaged somewhat subsided, it is now something I have pretty much just gotten used to.I began taking painkillers somewhere around 5yrs. ago for my feet.I try to take as few as possible as I know they are an addictive yet nessecary part of my life.I have since opened my own Clock Repair shop, which will hopefully in time allow me to quit all my part time jobs, and support my self in the future.
My biggest worry is that the pain will continue to increase with age, as I have been told by the doctor on my last set of xrays that it is arthritis in my ankle joint that is causing my pain.I can't inamgine going through any kind of surgery atm but have been told that it may be nessecary if the pain continues to increase in future yrs.
For now I try to stay off my feet as much as possible, have lost 40 pounds of weight which seems to have helped some, and hope for the best.
