Information on ClubFeet in Black and White

Tiana Frazier's Story

My sweet daughter was born with clubbed feet. At 5 months pregnant we were told she had this condition. We were very worried and didn't know what to expect. On December17,1999 she was born and she was perfect. Only thing was both of her feet turned inward to where she could touch the bottom of both feet together just by pointing her legs straight. At 6 days old we met her orthopedic doctor and we heard the plan to fix her feet. So that afternoon we started down the road to her recovery. It was horrible for me to watch them cast her feet every week. She was only 6 days old after all when she got her very first casts and she didn't like it at all. Later on, at about a month old she got collic and was even more miseriable. But we made it through and at 7 months she had her first surgery. One leg one week, the other leg the next and about 3 days after the surgery she was already trying to crawl around the house. She did to, when they took her casts off the knees of the casts were paper thin. She is amazing. She is so strong willed even at her young age.She gives it her all everyday. She had to have a second surgery when she was four. Her heels were slipping out, so they cut her heel bones and put in metals rods to hold them straight. Once again she amazied me with incrediable strenght. She is 7 years old now with no signs of slowing down. Although she has a little trouble running, standing for long period of times, I think in time she will grow even stronger and amazes even more people with all her acccomplishments.

I am 59 years old with a club foot on the right foot. The stupid foot hurts all the time. I have had a great life I have never been athletic. I lost every foot race I ever ran. I have a college education and dated the hottest girls in high school. My son is a special warfare combat instructor in the United States Marine Corps. He just always wins. So will your child have a great life. No regrets after all "there is no one else like me".
