Austin's Story

For anyone who may be interested, this is my story in brief. First, i'd like to say that i'm thrilled to find a site that is dedicated to people with this problem.
ok, i am 27 years old, male, in good shap and have been active all my life. my left foot is an extreme case. my knee down is underdeveloped and my foot is clubbed, (my family says my toes wrapped to my ankles when i was born) i've been told by doctors when i was a small child that amputation would be the only reasonable solution by the time i was in my teens. I never did like those doctors. I suffered much psychologically from kids in school due to my being different. i honestly feel that a complex has stayed with me throughout my 27 years. however, despite what docs say about amputation, i played sports and did the whole boy thing. the only thing i had trouble doing was joinning the military. well, i finally irritated enouth recruiters that i was finally accepted into the Navy. I didn't finish boot camp. i was in so much freaking pain i couldn't walk from my rack to the head without crying. i guess the docs knew what they were talking about--to an extent. i've turned wrenches for the past 10 years and up until my recent discharge was able to do most anything. i have the worst clubbed foot that any of my docs have ever seen and they are all suprised that i'm doing anything more than walking around the house. well, now that i've been out of boot camp due to this relentless pain, i'm unable to go back to work in my old profession and am seeking S.S. disability. I am now forced to realize i do have physical limitations. my advice to anyone out there that has a child, especially a female, is to moniter his/her behavior and mental health as much as the physical. this is a cruel world for children who are a bit different. I sometimes think my parents generation didn't understand the psychological impact of such instances and now i stuffer from depression. i sought help for the psychological issues and i'm doing great now. depression can be treated and even eleminated if caught in time.

i was born with club foot 30 years ago i had an opperation to correct it wich as left me with 1 leg longer than the other a twisted spine and no movement to my left foot i 2 got bullied n struggle still with deppresion as i am in constant agony every day and is worsening with age ive finaly found a doctor who listens n tryin everything 2 help ease the pain

I was born with a congenital club foot about the same as you described. The foot was turned up with the arch wrapped around my leg. Three years of casting and four surgeries helped my walk for 59 years. I found that a lace-up soccer brace helps a lot. Try one and you will be amazed.

Life is hard enough with out the addition of a severe club foot to burden one. I have had a severe club foot having four major surgeries in my early years. This foot hurt all the time. I am now 59 years old. I could only stand on it for 4 hours a day before it hurt so bad it would take half my brain power to block out the pain. I also had a nerve, mussel, disorder called hypopnea. A sleep disorder and everytime I sat down, after five minutes, I started day dreaming a form of sleep. I dealt with it in my own way, developing mental attitudes that were successfull for me. No one had an understanding of what I was going through and I really could not explain it. But I look back and I have no regrets about my situation. I give myself strait A's for my efforts. I see you as sucsessful as anyone I have ever known. Somehow you have delt with it for all these years. You know God made you to experence life in a way that no one eles has. You are very dear to him. He wants you to teach your experence in heaven so that sin will never rise again, and it won't. May the Lord be with you and give you peace.

hey my names bill, im 23 and was born with bilateral club feet. i've struggled my whole life, (i was also turned down by the army) and i've been without insurance for the past 8 years. i finally will have medical insurance next month, and the last time i went to a doctor was 7 or 8 years ago and they wanted to do more surgeries. absolutely out of the question cause i have to work to pay bills. i was just wondering what kind of medicztion i should seek for the severe pain and swelling. any input would be awesome!! thanks

my daughter is 6 years old and she haves sever club feet did 3 surgerys in the past and now she is getting a lot of pain i tryed soaking her tyenol moltrin heat pads ice packs it usauly works but not this time is there anything else that i can do or try i also tryed rubbing her legs and feet please help thanks and god bless
