Lacey's Story
i have club feetHey every one, my name is Lacey. I was born with severe bilateral clubfoot. So far I've had 2 surgeries on my left foot and 4 on my right foot. I was a patient at Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital for about 10 years. Then found a doctor a bit closer to home. After the second surgery on my feet with that doctor I was put in a wheelchair, and two years later I'm still in it. I've been told several times that the best option for me is amputating both my legs, but for now the general consensus from all the doctors I've seen recently is that I should have both ankles fused. Fun stuff, right! The last doctor I saw decided that I also have an internal rotation, so that adds another dimension to my story. Ya see I live in Texas and there is nobody in the whole lone star state that treats it! So that means a 12 hour drive to St. Louis to see Dr. Dobbs. Other than a clubbie, I'm also a pre-med student. Feel free to contact me, I can always use more clubbie pals, I'm very friendly and happy to answer questions.
