Information on Club Feet in Black and White

Tom W 48yrs. old's Story

i have club feet
I was born in 1962, now 48 years old. at 3 days old I had a series of cast every 2 weeks until 6 months, then I wore leg braces til 5. At 5 years old I had my first surgery with full leg casts. When I was 11 I had more surguries and was in a wheel chair. I wore corrected shoes all through grade school. i did everthing to strengthen my legs, swimming, karate, gymnastics etc. My whole life I have had pain. When I turned around 30 the pain got so bad I couldn't even work. I suffer now at 48 with terrible pain. I take loricet 10/600 and oxycontin 20mgs for pain and 2mgs of xanax to sleep at night but the pain awakens me quite often. Nobody understands how much pain I am in 24 hours 7 days a week. I just wish the people who don't understand could feel my pain for one day. Tonight I hurt so bad I was looking for people that had this horrible pain and for any answers. I am afraid to death of more surgeries hearing some of the horror stories I have heard. Pain has got so bad I have had thoughts of suicide but could never because I'm afraid if I did God would not let me into Heaven. All I do is pray every night that it does not get worse. I love my wife but she doesn't understand how bad I feel at times. I never wanted a child knowing I could not do all the things that he or she would deserve. I have almost no family left. I don't waant to increase my pain meds fearing it will make me to confused to function. It is a horrible thing to live with and if you know of someone with this problem, be understanding when they hurt. Keep praying at keep your faith up. Maybe some day they will find some sure fix in medine, but now there is none. Thank you for listening to my story and God Bless You. Tom

Hello Tom: I am 62 years old with a right club foot. You are correct, other people just do not know the pain that befalls a person with club feet. When I stand on my foot for more than two hours it hurts, often so bad I want to cut it off. When younger I stood on it all day at work. Man! It took half my brain power to block the pain out. My parents were unsimpathetic, so I could not go to them or complain about the pain to them. My father was an asshole claiming the no pain no gain crap. My father was the smartist dumbest man I have ever known. He never made a grade in school or college below a B. He was a Civil Engineer. He thought he was smarter than the doctors when it came to dealing with the pain in my foot. I completely understand where you are coming from buddy. I have never in my life communicated with any one with a club foot. My e-mail address is tkrusk@sbcglobal.net. I live in Dallas Texas and have one son who is a special warefare combat instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps. He does not have the any birth defects and is as tuff and athletic as any professional athlete. Any one with a club foot I would love to hear from.

Well im 38, and im here to say i honestly understand what you are going through. I was born with bilateral clubfeet. I have been cut three times in my life from different surgeries. Once i was cut from the inside of my big toe, to just below my calf muscle, and three times around both knees. Pain is a daily option for me as well. Just average daily walking is a hassle, but i try to just push through it. Walking through the mall is a battle. Just to keep up with my wife and kids is becoming a hassle. I have tried to get on disability, but they keep denying me. I just keep working, and brace my legs up everyday. I have tried every foot and ankle, and knee brace available to man. So in closing i honestly understand.

Tom, I don't even know where to start. We should talk. I'm 57, and you are telling my story, as well. And I know how chronic pain can make you feel like enough is enough. And I know how others fail to understand what this is like. Get in touch. Notumbo www.adultclubfeet.blogspot.com

I have a disease myself called Lymphedema it causes swelling and repeated infections of cellulitis.I also have really bad vericose veins and diabetes and arthritis. And although I suffer with constant pain in my legs and feet no one understands even my doctors wont give me pain medicine for this I think they feel like I make most of it up. I am only 29 yrs old and I feel like an 80 yr old. I just want you to know your story inspired me and I know God loves you and thinks of you. My prayers are with you. Verleen
