Sara_2's Story
i have club feetHi. My name is Sara. I was born with club feet. Both were pretty bad. I don't remember much about it because as soon as I was born my doctor started working on casts and other things to fix the problem. I have pictures of me as a baby in body casts, and casts from my hips down. I remember always being in the hospital when I was really young and always have to be put "to sleep" and counting back from 100. I don't really know for sure what kinda of case of club foot I have, but I do know that the tendons in the back of my legs have been cut and pinned because they were too long, and I have a pin going through my left leg, it used to make the security alarms at stores go off sometimes. I remember having to go through physical therapy to learn to walk with my feet straight, and every time I go to see a new doctor and tell them that I was born with it, they take a look at it and tell me I'm lucky. Being that my doctor started to correct my fit from day one of my life, my feet are just fine. I have some pain, and it does hurt to stand for long periods of time, but I only had a few surgeries and I haven't had any problems since then. I am now 22 years old. With braces, casts, and surgery, it all helped me very much so. I am thankful for my doctor and my parents who were very supportive. It's not easy to deal with as you get older, it does affect you later in life if you do not do exercises with your feet on a regular bases. And I know that it is hard to keep them corrected and straight, because sometimes when I turn my feet in it feels better and I feel more relieved. I am in pain sometimes, but not as much as some people I know who were born with club foot, and theirs wasn't even as bad as mine....

Hi,
I'm Shelley and I was born with bilateral CF and was, at the time, seen as being an extremely bad case. My parents left me for a week at Oxford Uni hospital to carry out operations and so far I have had 18 operations. The latest op was 4 years ago. I am going back to my GP tomorrow as I'm currently in a lot of pain and really dread getting up each morning as it means spending another day in pain with every step I take. I'm fed with trying to find shoes that are supportive enough and comfy enough. If anyone can suggest and shoe companies I'd be very grateful :)
