Information on Club Feet in Black and White

Daniel Cooper's Story

i have club feet
I was born with severe bilateral club feet. (both feet). I had emergency surgery to correct at a few hours old. I spend my first 4 years in cast and braces. I spent most my childhood being told I wouldn't be able to do what most normal kids did, and proved them wrong. When I got older and my feet had stopped growing my doctor tried one more surgery to correct my right foot which caused me the most pain and problems. It worked a little, but not much. I have almost no ankle joint left on the right ankle. I will need an ankle replacement one day (waiting on good technology) and will never be rid of the pain. On really cold days my right foot hurts to walk on because the metal pins. I have knee and back problems because of my feet. I never was able to get my feet corrected enough to allow me to walk correctly, so this caused me to walk in a way that caused joint problems in my knees and back. It sucks, because I can't do a lot of things now like I was able to as a kid. I will say my feet don't nearly bother me as much as my lower back. I have more problems with the back then the feet. I pray one day we can figure out what causes this and eradicate it from this world like many other birth defects.

Thanks for your story Daniel. Can you tell me what kind of doctor is the best to see as an adult who had club feet as a child?
