Information on Club Feet in Black and White

Geoff's Story

i have club feet
My parents were told, like many other parents of club feet babies, that i would not be able to excel at sports due to the future lack of mobility of my left foot/leg. I could always tell that my club foot did indeed hold me back of my true potential.
Baseball was always my true passion from when I was 4. once i got older and my size and speed were no longer such an advantage to me with other sports such as soccer and basketball i was some what forced to focus on baseball who some say is a less strenuous sport on people. The main point of this is to say that have indeed thrived at sports. I play Division-I Baseball in which i received a scholarship to play. it has held me back but no one should say that baseball players arent athletes. let me just walk you through our daily routine. Wake up at 4:00am to be stretched out and ready to go in the weight room at 4:45am. lift weights for 1 hour. Then run stadiums for 1 hour. Breakfast. Class. Individual practice for 1 hour, pitchers pre-practice workout for 1 hour. Team practice for 3 hours. team conditioning for 3 hours. Study hall. Bed. overall that is 10 hours a day up and on my feet testing the limits of my body. i will say there were times that i could barely walk because everyone with a club foot knows how easy it is to tweek that foot and be in pain for a week. but i guess thats where modern medicine comes in.
All in all don't listen to your doctor if he tells you that you wont be able to thrive in sports, not trying to brag but i also made the basketball team as a walk-on but the baseball coach suggested i not play (i think you can figure out what he really said). if you or your son loves sports and has the determination to play and succeed then he/she will.
