Carmela's Story
my son daughter has club feetMy son was born with left clubfoot. He was diagnosed with clubfoot during my sonogram. That was great because we were able to prepare before he was born. We found a great Dr at NYU Center for joint disease. When we took him to the hospital the Dr scored him with a severe case of clubfoor and was casted immediatley. His cast was changed every 2 weeks for about 3 months. I dont think he was in pain but I believe it was uncomfortable for him because the way they over correct the foot. I felt so bad how they twist it all the way around. I think it was harder on us then him. Anyway, at 3 months old he had a tendon release and was recasted for four weeks. After that he wore the Dennis Brown bar for 2 months 22 hours a day. And from then on he only has to wear the bars at bedtime. We also have to stretch his foot with every diaper change to loosen up the tendons. He is now 9 months old and has hit all his milestones. He is doing so well, We are very proud of him.
