Hasnaen's Story
i have club feetI was born with club feet on both feet from my knee down to my ankle. My first surgery was when i was 3 months old. Uptill i was 8 i didnt even know about this, except that my school mates remarked about me running strangly. Later on when i was about the age of 10 i had more surgery to my left leg which was major compared to my right leg. The surgery was a very bad experience as I always hated being in hospitals, especially when im surrounded by all these doctors, i remember i kept crying up untill i was put to sleep, when i woke up i had these massive plaster on my leg. So for the rest of that year i spend about 6 months sitting at home, without home school or any other contact with my school friends. I feel this really wrecked my relationship with them, but soon after 6 months was over i had another plaster on my leg, but this one was the kind which i could go 2 school in. At first I thought it be cool cause i had a plaster on my leg, but I only got sorry looks from people & that really irretated me. Ne ways, 2-3 years past and I completely forgot about the plaster & the surgery, but yet again i had one more surgery left, a metal object was put on my left ankle, but luckly I didnt have a plaster, instead i just had a wrapping around my ankle, and i was able 2 go to school in a wheel chair. And I remember i used 2 take advantage of my situation, and ask for bed pan being used rather then going 2 the toilet !! Anywho, after the metal was taken out, I felt great, walking again was one of the best feeling I had, and ill always remember that! Well now i have moved to New Zealand, as I am already an outsider here, it has been hard to make many friends, and even so when i play sport i am made fun of by others, "You run stupidly". I dont really care so much, since I've gotten into the 2nd Hockey team in our school, and i play as a goalie! I just wish, that more people in New Zealand knew about this, because it was very harsh how they made fun of me and the teachers gave me strange looks and asked me questions. Anywho, I still run "stupidly" but im faster then most people in my age group !
