Heather's Story
i have club feetI am 22 years old and when I was born I had a severe clubbed right foot. My foot was casted for a year and when this did not help I had my first surgery when I was about 1.
My parents were told that I would have trouble walking and there might even be a chance that I wouldnt walk. I am very proud to say that not only did I walk but I played soccer for almost 10 years. I have always had a lot of pain but I have learned to deal with it and find ways around my differentness.
When I was 20 I had my second surgery where my foot was rebuilt and fused. I spent 3 months in bed recovering. After still having problems I had another surgery in may of 2007 and now my foot feels better than ever.
I have started running again ( its been 3 years since I last could ) and am letting NOTHING stop me.

I feel your pain. Soccer makes me forget how cruel this world is. Sometimes I feel like im the only one living in this dark world with this condition. Thanks for sharing your story.

im a 24 yr old female that was born with a severe left clubbed foot. it is reaslly paibnful for me and sometimes i feekl like people think that i am exaggerating but im not i have had over ten surgeries and have been told there is nothing left to do buut amputation and i know that i was made like this for a reason. the hardest thing for me is to not be able to wear the kind of shoes i want no heels or flip flops but you just learn to live with it and no God makes no mistakes

Heather, or anyone else who has pain as an adult: Where was the pain? My 16 year old was born with a clubbed foot and was casted and operated on to release his aquilles tendon when he was on 4 months old. As he has gotten older and has tried to do athletics, he has a lot of pain in his ankle. Is this true for anyone else?

Heather, i myself was born with a very severe left clubbed foot and my leg from the knee down is also underdeveloped. I would really like to know how this has effected you socially. I've always felt that this would be especially difficult for women because of the pressure society puts on women to look a certain way. your reasponse would be greatly appreciated.
