Information on Club Feet in Black and White

sherry richardson's Story

my son daughter has club feet
my daughter beth is a lively cute little girl.

I had a terribly sore pregnancy but no detection was made on any scans whilst pregnant.

My little girl was born with severe bilateral talipes, and apparently it had been traced in my partners family as far back as the 1800's... carryed by each generation.. I was so annoyed.

The bit with the midwife any medical history my partner sat and said nope!!! So we had minipulation held by elastapast. Then various reconstructive surgeries followed in-between with plaster-casts..

Now 15 yes 15 operations later shes now classed as failed talipes..next year when she is 4 she will be wheelchair confined for about 18mths. She will have both legs and feet broke and external fixators fitted and a muscle transplantation near the little toes on both feet. She has ortho boots and warner brother splints to aid her to walk properly. One with tweety pie on and the other bugs bunny. If she walks about bare-footed she tends to go over on her feet as though an adult is wearing heeled shoes, this happens loads and loads..and we have lots of tears followed by her muttering silly poorly feets!!!!

I am terrified of the prospect of her care management I am want to get intouch with others whom have had external fixators on..previously say a couple of years to know the success of the op.

shes a lovely little doll r beth!!! I am just glad shes alive.

my daughter has just had her second lot of surgery for club feet, we had the casts removed this week to be told she needs to be referred to have external fixators, i am really concerned about this and would like to hear from any other parents that are going through the same
