Blue Badge Scheme
This campaign has now been approved. More information will be coming soon.
I am asking for a small favour from everyone in the United Kingdom.
It will cost you nothing and will only take 2 minutes of your time.
All I ask is if you could ask your local MP to support the Early Day Motion (EDM) number 413.
Currently the laws state that to qualify for a Blue Badge, the person needs to be disabled (or have trouble walking) for more than one year, and the disabled person needs to be over 2 years of age.
With this Campaign, Parents will be able to get a Blue Badge for their children for a temporary bases.
This would be great for children who are for example in a Hip Cast.
Helen Grindrod and Kelli-Ann Rushton from Basingstoke started this campaign last year, as they want to see temporary disabled parking badges.
Both Helen Grindrod and Kelli-Ann Rushton are mothers of children with
Hip Dysplasia, and they struggle daily to get their child out of a parked car safely.
If people in similar situation can be awarded a Blue Badge, then they would be able to Park in a Disabled Space, which is wider, to allow for the doors to be opened fully, and most of the time, away from main traffic.
This Campaign is backed by
Steps Charity and
MP Maria Miller
