Hi All,
I am 25 years old and was born with 2 club feet. My left foot was corrected with casting by my right foot was alot more severe. I had surgery when i was 22 weeks old to lenghing the tendon at the back of my heel and then further surgery when i was 2 to break ny leg to straighten it. My surgeon always insisyed that i would need further durgery at around 16 years of age but unfurtunatly, he retired before then and the surgeon that i went to see instead basically told me that there was nothing wrong and that no further surgery was required. I really thought that all of my problems were behind me!
Recently I have been getting alot of pain at the back of my heal and have now been advised that I need surgery to lenghting the tendon again plus i may need reconstryctive surgery on my foot ( my right foot is 2 shoe sizes smaller and alot wider than my other foot along with my leg being significantky shorter)
I am not 100% sure what this involves or the recobery needed after?
Any advice would be greatlu appreciated! Thanks

Hello Kay,
We are similar. I am 22 and had the same problem that you do about two years ago. I had my Achilles heel lengthened. It is painful and took me about a month to be able to learn to walk again. It's a different kind of pain, but it was worth it. It gave my ankle joint a little more space. Hope this is helpful!

hello i havent been in this myself but have watched my infant son go through this ,he stayed in hospital overnight and took about 8 weeks to heal ,whilst this was happening he took his first steps at 10mths and stunned his dr's. this sugery really helped my son but unfourtunatly he developed cysts on his acheilles and nodles of scar tissue on his tendon scars so my advice is bio oil and keep up with the scar tissue as i find its more painful for him than the surgery
